Evaluate thyself - Intro
If you only had one day to live, how would you spend the day? And why?
The average lifespan an individual is 27,375 days! The brevity of life makes each waking moment a gift, the present! Every morning is a new day to find and fulfill your life’s purpose.
We are constantly in conflict with our intentions and actions. Paul describes this cognitive dissonance in Galatian 5:17 as the conflict between the flesh(our will) and the spirit(our conscience). We end up doing what we hate, and not doing what we want to do. “O what a wretched soul I am, who will free me from this body subject to death?” - Roman 7:24-25.
How do we become aware and manage this internal battle? Through Self evaluation.
When we constantly assess our goals, motives, feelings, choices, and habits, we are able to measure our productivity each day to deduce whether they are congruent with our desired lifestyle. The most important way to self evaluate is to be accountable for your time, choices, and performance.
Time: How much waking time do you have? Write down the kind of lifestyle you want to live. Make a daily schedule of the activities it entails. You will marvel at how time allotted is wisely spent. Also be realistic. There isn’t enough time to do everything you love. You will learn to value each second and choose to engage in activities that bring joy to God and to yourself.
Choices: What choices am I making? and are they in agreement with my intentions? Learn to create a pause between stimulus and response. Think twice before making permanent decisions based on temporal emotions. Educate yourself. Read self help books on making better decisions. The choices of yesterday have led us here today.
Performance: Don’t just say what you need to do. Create a habit of it. For example, I will run for 20 minutes at 10am every day (I am advising myself here).
Being consistent with your habits create momentum for the natural law of cause and effect. We reap what we sow.
Life is short. Show up for yourself and work towards your purpose till your last breath.
Till we meet again,
Keep the crowns upright.
